Machinist / Chargehand CWS

About the role
We are currently looking for an experienced Machinist to join our Central Mechanical Workshop Team as a Chargehand. Reporting to the CWS Team Leader, your primary accountability is the machining of rolls, operation of lathes, precision measuring and leading the machining stream within Central Mechanical Workshops. This role has a tool-time/leadership spill of approximately 80/20.
About the person
To be successful in this role you will need to have a strong team focus while also being comfortable working on your own, excellent communication skills both oral and written, an uncompromising attitude to safety and be able to embrace change. Along with the capacity to plan, organise and delegate responsibilities to others, you will have a strong work ethic and produce high quality work. Other key skills and experience include:
a full Mechanical Trade Certificate (Advanced Trade would be preferable)
solid analytical skills with the ability to trouble-shoot with a problem-solving approach
a positive can-do attitude
While previous experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is a definite advantage, experience in a similar environment will also be considered. It would also be an advantage if you have a working knowledge of SAP along with experience in CNC machining, manual lathes and milling.
