2 x Mobile Plant Operators - Day Shift

New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors.  You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

SteelServ are seeking two motivated and safety-focused Mobile Plant Operators to join the team in permanent positions.

SteelServ provides specialist transport, logistics, and material processing services that support the operations of New Zealand Steel. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established operation where safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement are valued.

About the Role

Working 8-hour day shifts Monday - Friday and reporting to the Operations Team Leader, you'll play an important role in supporting daily site operations through the safe and efficient operation of mobile plant and equipment.

This is a hands-on role suited to people who enjoy variety, take pride in their work, and can adapt to changing operational demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate mobile plant and equipment as required
• Support day-to-day transport, processing, and operational activities
• Complete pre-start inspections and basic equipment checks
• Follow site procedures and safe work practices
• Work collaboratively with team members to achieve operational objectives
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and equipment care
• Assist with a range of operational tasks as required

About You

You are reliable, adaptable, and committed to working safely. You enjoy being part of a team, can work effectively under pressure, and take ownership of delivering quality work.

• A current New Zealand Driver Licence
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic
• The ability to multitask and respond to changing priorities
• Good attention to detail
• Proven reliability and a solid employment history

Desirable Experience

The following experience would be advantageous but is not essential:

• Loader operation
• Excavator operation
• Water cart or truck driving
• Forklift operation
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, transport, construction, quarrying, mining, or logistics environments
