2x Mobile plant operators - Shift
New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors. You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.
SteelServ are seeking two motivated and safety-focused Mobile Plant Operators to join the team in permanent positions.
SteelServ provides specialist transport, logistics, and material processing services that support the operations of New Zealand Steel. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established operation where safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement are valued.
About the Role
Working as part of a rotating shift roster, you'll play a key role in supporting site operations through safe and efficient operations. This hands-on role offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to work with a range of equipment in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Rotating Roster Pattern:
- 6 days on, 3 days off – 7:00am to 3:00pm
- 6 days on, 3 days off – 3:00pm to 11:00pm
The roster provides regular three-days off and a structured work pattern that supports work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate mobile plant and equipment as required
- Support day-to-day transport, processing, and operational activities
- Complete pre-start inspections and equipment checks
- Follow site procedures and safe work practices
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve operational targets
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and equipment care
- Assist with a range of operational tasks across the site
About You
You are a reliable team player who takes pride in working safely and delivering quality results. You enjoy working in a dynamic operational environment and can adapt to changing priorities when required.
To be successful, you will have:
- A strong commitment to health and safety
- A current New Zealand Driver Licence
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Good attention to detail
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- The ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
- Proven reliability and a solid employment history
Desirable Experience
The following experience would be advantageous but is not essential:
- Loader operation
- Excavator operation
- Water cart or truck driving
- Forklift operation
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, transport, construction, quarrying, mining, or logistics environments
