Assistant Operations Analyst


New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors.  You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

What you will be doing

We are currently looking for a commercially minded Assistant Operations Analyst to join our busy Finance Operations Team.   This role would suit someone with around 2–3 years’ accounting or finance experience who is ready to take the next step in their career, build their commercial skills, and develop into a trusted finance partner within a complex manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Operations Analyst, you will be supported to grow your capability across month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and business performance reporting. You will work alongside experienced finance and operational teams, learning how to interpret results, understand performance drivers, and turn financial information into practical insight.  You will also be responsible for completing the accounts for a subsidiary company. 

This is a permanent full-time position working Monday – Friday 40 hours per week based at NZ Steel in Glenbrook.

What you will bring to the role

With a qualification in accounting, commerce or business or experience in accounts and reporting, you will be technically strong and willing to take a hands-on approach to supporting the financial and operational aspects of our business. 

Ideally you will have a working knowledge of SAP.  Manufacturing accounting knowledge or experience working in a manufacturing type industry will be looked upon favourably.

You will need to have excellent attention to detail, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be a great communicator.
