Business Development Manager


New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors.  You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced, commercially sharp and relationship driven Business Development Manager to execute growth initiatives across key downstream customer and influencer channels, primarily within Roofing & Cladding and Steel Framing.

This role plays a critical part in shaping market demand by translating strategy into action. You will work across the value chain, engaging with specifiers, consultants, developers, and industry groups to name a few, to strengthen specification, grow brand presence, and pull -our products through to market.

What you will be doing

  • Participate in the development of the -businesses annual strategic plan, with accountability for translating strategic priorities into executed initiatives and measurable business outcomes
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with designated customers (such as: architects, specifiers, developers, group home builders, installers, and industry bodies)
  • Drive brand awareness and specification growth through targeted engagement, networking, and industry events.
  • Use market insight and data to identify growth opportunities and influence product specification.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to deliver aligned proposals, messaging, and market initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain a strong opportunity pipeline, with disciplined reporting and CRM management.
  • Deliver agreed volume and revenue targets while contributing to long term market growth.
