Capital & Inventory Accountant


New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors.  You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

What You Will Be Doing

We’re looking for a commercially minded and detail-focused Capital Accountant to join our Finance Operations Team on a 6-month fixed-term basis.

In this role, you’ll partner closely with both Finance and the wider business to deliver insightful reporting, analysis, and oversight of capital expenditure and depreciation performance. You’ll play a key role in forecasting, month-end reporting, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiencies.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces change, and brings fresh thinking and initiative to the team.

This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with flexibility to work from home 1–2 days per week. Some public holiday work may be required.

What You Will Bring to the Role

You will be a CA or CPA qualified Accountant with strong technical accounting and capital accounting knowledge and have experience applying International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

You’ll bring a hands-on approach, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to confidently support both financial and operational stakeholders across the business. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, performing NPV calculations, undertaking SaaS evaluations, and SAP systems experience would be highly advantageous.
