About the role

NZ Steel is currently looking for a dynamic and motivated Electrical Engineer with high voltage experience to join the Utilities Maintenance Team. Reporting to the Services Maintenance Engineer , you will maximize plant reliability through the upkeep and ongoing performance improvements of the Utilities operational assets and ancillary equipment.

You will have demonstrated a continuous improvement mind-set that has seen you lead and embrace change. Your exceptional leadership skills will promote a culture of teamwork along with the ability to positively engage with people from varied backgrounds. You will have a proven track record of instilling a safety-first culture and meeting key performance targets.

Ideally you will have:

  • An uncompromising attitude to safety.
  • A tertiary qualification in electrical engineering and a progressive career in industrial engineering or manufacturing spanning 5+ years.
  • Knowledge of maintaining and working with high-voltage equipment.
  • Familiarity with Failure Mode and Effect Analysis , continuous improvement and root cause analysis principles.
  • Good decision-making and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong communication and organizational skills as this role require interactions with multiple stakeholders across the business.
