Environmental Advisor


New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors.  You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

 

What you will be doing

 

We have a rare opportunity to join our Environmental team in an Advisory role.  As the Environmental Advisor you will advise, monitor and report on environmental matters affecting NZS and PI Businesses.

While reporting to the Environmental Manger you will work closely with NZ Steel Laboratory Technicians, Process Engineers and Manufacturing Superintendents to deliver advice appropriate to current or proposed environmental statutory and corporate requirements while assisting in the delivery of continuous improvement outcomes. 

 

What you will bring to the role

 

Along with your ability to engage with others, self-motivation and passion for the environment to be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • A degree in Environmental Science or Engineering preferred
  • Three or more years’ experience in a relevant industry
  • Competent computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft Suite
  • Mathematical aptitude for data analysis and interpretation
  • Clear presentation of technical information in written and presentation form
  • Experience with MonitorPro or a similar database
  • Knowledge of and experience with ISO14001 system and auditing is preferred
  • Familiar with NZS computer systems and PPL3 would be advantageous
  • Must have a full, clean driver's license. 

This role is based at NZ Steel in Glenbrook, travel to other operational sites may be required from time to time.  Some flexibility can be offered dependent on the business needs.
