Financial Accountant

New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors.  You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

What you will be doing

As the Financial Accountant for New Zealand Steel your primary function will be to maintain and continually improve financial reporting results, processes, and general ledger integrity. 

Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will be an asset as you will be collaborating closely with various cost centers to provide financial insights and to maintain, and improve key financial and statutory reporting systems, and controls. Part of your role will include overseeing the validation and valuation of inventory to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial standards. 

With your inquisitive nature you will be passionate about continuously developing and improving your technical skills with respect to financial accounting, taxation and internal governance and control. This is a permanent fulltime position working Monday – Friday 40 hours per week with flexibility to work partially from home once you are trained in the role.

What you will bring to the role

You will be an innovative CA or CPA Qualified Accountant with excellent technical accounting skills in International Financial Reporting Standards, it is essential that you are technically strong and willing to take a hands-on approach to supporting the financial and operational aspects of our business.

You will need to have excellent attention to detail, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be a great communicator, with two direct reports it is critical that you hold experience in a leadership role.
