Financial Accountant
New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors. You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.
We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Financial Accountant to join our Finance team at New Zealand Steel. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys partnering with the business, driving continuous improvement, and contributing to the success of a large and dynamic manufacturing operation.
What you'll be doing
Reporting into the Finance leadership team, you'll play a key role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and continuous improvement of New Zealand Steel's financial reporting processes and systems.
In this varied and influential role, you will:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial reporting and general ledger integrity.
- Drive improvements to financial reporting processes, systems, and controls.
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to provide financial insights and support informed decision-making.
- Maintain and enhance key financial and statutory reporting frameworks.
- Oversee inventory validation and valuation processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
- Support governance, compliance, taxation, and financial accounting requirements across the business.
- Lead and develop two direct reports, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment.
This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday (40 hours per week), with flexibility to work from home once established in the role.
