Fitter Welder
New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors. You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.
Our Central Workshop team is looking for a Fitter Welder permanently.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Fitter Welder to join our Central Mechanical Workshops team based at Glenbrook.
Reporting to the Central Mechanical Workshops Team Leader, this role is responsible for the repair and maintenance of operational plant and equipment across the site. You will also provide mechanical support on a breakdown basis, carry out preventative maintenance inspections, and contribute to continuous improvement projects.
Hours of Work
This role operates on an 8-hour day, Monday to Friday. Applicants should be aware that overtime and call-out work may be required from time to time.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be someone who takes pride in producing high-quality work, can learn and apply skills effectively on the job, and works well within an industrial environment. You will also demonstrate:
- A strong team focus, with the ability to work independently when required
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Sound analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making ability
- A positive attitude and a willingness to take ownership of your work
- A proven record of good attendance and reliable work history
- Welding experience in medium or heavy fabrication.
You must hold a relevant Trade Certificate, have a strong work ethic, and consistently deliver work to a high standard.
