Fitter Welders
Our Central Maintenance Group (CMG) team are seeking two experienced Trade Level 4 Qualified Fitter Welders to join us on a 6-month fixed-term basis at our Glenbrook site.
About the role
You’ll be part of a skilled maintenance team responsible for the repair and maintenance of operational plant and equipment across our large-scale steel manufacturing site.
Reporting to the CMG Team Leader, you will carry out a wide range of hands-on maintenance work including fitting, welding, fabrication, breakdown repairs, and preventative maintenance across heavy industrial equipment.
No two days are the same—you’ll be involved in diagnosing faults, restoring equipment to operation, breakdown response, and contributing to practical improvements that enhance plant reliability and performance.
This is a great opportunity for a trade-qualified Fitter Welder who enjoys varied, practical work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
To be considered for this opportunity, you must hold the New Zealand Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Trade) (Level 4) (or an equivalent recognised trade qualification which has been verified as level 4)
Hours of work
Day shift role: Monday to Friday (8-hour shifts)
Some overtime and call-out work may be required depending on operational needs
About you
You are a qualified and experienced tradesperson who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and safe working practices.
To be successful, you will bring:
Trade qualification (NZ Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Level 4 or verified equivalent)
Experience in welding and fitting within a heavy industrial, manufacturing, mining, or similar environment
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems on the job
Confidence working independently and as part of a maintenance team
A strong commitment to safety, reliability, and quality workmanship
A solid attendance record and strong work ethic
A practical, “can-do” attitude with attention to detail
Candidates must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
