Head of Commercial Analytics NZPI

New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors.  You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

New Zealand Steel is looking for a commercially astute, analytically driven leader to join our Strategic Projects team as Head of Commercial Analytics NZPI.

Working closely with the CEO, CFO and Senior Leadership Team, you'll turn complex financial and operational information into insights that shape major business decisions, evaluate strategic opportunities and drive long-term value.

This is not a traditional reporting role. It's an opportunity to challenge assumptions, influence strategy and help shape the future of one of New Zealand's largest industrial operations.

What you'll be doing

• Partner with senior leaders to evaluate strategic opportunities and support key business decisions.
• Develop financial models, business cases and investment assessments.
• Identify risks, opportunities and initiatives that improve business performance.
• Translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Challenge conventional thinking and influence decisions through robust analysis.
• Build analytical capability and drive improved tools and ways of working.

You'll have the opportunity to work at the heart of our business, influencing decisions that shape our strategic direction and long-term performance. With exposure to senior leadership and the wider BlueScope business, your insights will help identify opportunities, challenge the status quo and deliver meaningful commercial outcomes.

What you'll bring

• A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
• 10+ years' experience in commercial, strategy, finance, analytics, consulting or operational roles.
• Strong financial modelling, business case development and commercial analysis skills.
• The ability to turn complex information into practical recommendations and influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, infrastructure, resources or a similarly complex environment.
• Experience evaluating major capital investments, both value and risk.
