Melter Supervisor Fixed Term
New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors. You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.
About the role
Our Melters team is looking for a supervisor to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
Reporting to the Melter Superintendent, you will be responsible for the planning and direction of shift operations to produce high quality product and achieve continuous improvement in your production area.
The normal working hours for this position are 42 hours per week (12 hour / 4 shift rotating pattern, night shift first) however to ensure that operational requirements are met, you may be required to work additional hours when needed.
About the person
To be successful in this role you will need to have demonstrated problem solving and decision-making abilities, be able to accommodate changing priorities associated with the operational demands and have an uncompromising attitude to safety.
Along with the above you will also:
- Have a strong team focus with excellent communication skills.
- Be able to embrace and lead change along with good resilience and strong courage to lead your team in an ever-changing environment.
- Be computer literate and have the ability to organize and change plans if and when required.
- Have the ability to motivate and direct people effectively to achieve goals.
- Have a “can do” attitude and the ability to work between multiple work groups.
