Primary Plant Water Treatment Operator

What you will be doing

We are looking for a 6-month fixed-term Operator to join the Utilities team on site at our Steel Mill in Glenbrook.

The Utilities Operator is responsible for operating the utilities processes which include water treatment, control and distribution of cooling water, raw water as well as piped gases.

You will be working a sole-charge 12-hour rotating shift pattern however, to ensure that operational requirements are met, you may be required to work additional hours when needed.

Duties will include:

  • Ensuring the quality of water supplied to site meets our supply agreement.
  • Operating a large-scale water treatment plant, cooling and effluent systems.
  • Day to day monitoring and operation of pumps and related plant
  • Although you will be part of a team day to day tasks are sole charge
  • Data Entry / Reporting

What you will bring to the role

Along with your uncompromising attitude towards safety the ‘must bring’ skills you require to be successful in the role are:

A positive attitude along with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn new tasks.

  • Effective, clear communication (both written and oral)
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Proven organizational / timekeeping skills.
  • Have a process or mechanical aptitude with the ability to problem-solve and trouble-shoot.
  • Previous water treatment knowledge/experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience and knowledge in distribution of gases and associated safety
