Qualified Rigger


New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors.  You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

We seek a qualified and highly motivated Rigger to join our Central Maintenance Group. 

What you will be doing

Reporting to the CMG Rigging Team Leader, you will be responsible for supporting maintenance work by applying rigging skills and knowledge at our Glenbrook Steel Mill and the Waikato North Head Mine Site.

While this is a day position, applicants should be aware that some overtime, callouts, and shift work may be necessary including weekends.

What you will bring to the role

  • NZ Steel encourages and supports a safe working environment, so it is essential that you are physically fit and can demonstrate a strong commitment towards health and safety and the environment.
  • As well as your previous heavy industrial experience (3 years minimum) holding a current Level 4 qualification in Rigging is essential in applying for this role.
  • As a natural team player, you thrive on working in a team environment while producing high-quality work promptly. 
  • From time to time, you will need to work with minimum supervision, so you will need to demonstrate good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Bringing your willingness to positively contribute to a diverse and inclusive environment, along with your excellent communication skills (written and oral) will help you succeed in this role.
