Registered Electrician - Ironmaking
New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors. You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.
The Ironmaking team is looking for an Electrician on a permanent basis.
What you will be doing
We are looking for an experienced Registered Electrician to join our core team, some with dual trades.
The primary accountability of this position is the repair and maintenance of the operational plant and equipment throughout the Iron Plant.
This position within a well-established team prides itself on implementing innovative sustainability-focused solutions to ensure Steelmaking has a strong future within New Zealand.
The hours of work for this position are 8-hour days, with the opportunity to work on 12-hour shifts.
What you will bring to the role
Along with the ability to learn the required skills on the job and produce high-quality work promptly, the successful applicant will have;
- Fully Registered Electrician with a current practicing license
- Experience in a medium/heavy industry
- Good knowledge and understanding of PLC’s, drives and HV experience.
- Strong team focus while also being comfortable working on your own.
- Great communication skills – verbal and written.
- Excellent computer literacy, analytical, problem-solving and sound decision-making skills
- Positive attitude, ability and willingness to take ownership of your work.
- Proven good attendance and work history.
- Instrumentation experience would be advantageous.
