Rigger

New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors.  You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

What You’ll Be Doing

Join us as a key member of our CMG Rigging team, where you’ll put your rigging and scaffolding expertise to work supporting maintenance activities across our Glenbrook Steel Mill and Waikato North Head Mine Site.

No two days are the same in this hands‑on role. While the position is primarily day‑based, there will be times when callouts, overtime, or shift work are needed — giving you the chance to get involved in a wide range of work across our operations.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is safety‑driven, proactive, and ready to contribute to a collaborative team. To be successful, you’ll bring:

  • A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental practices — your wellbeing and that of your team always comes first.
  • At least 3 years of heavy industrial experience, along with a current Level 4 qualification in Rigging. Scaffolding experience will be advantageous.
  • A natural team mindset, with the ability to work well alongside others to deliver high‑quality results.
  • The confidence to work independently when required, using sound judgement and problem‑solving skills.
  • A positive attitude, great communication skills, and a willingness to contribute to a diverse and inclusive workplace.

About the Team

You’ll be joining a supportive team that works across both the Glenbrook and Waikato North Head sites. Although this is a day‑shift role, our team steps up for callouts and shift work when the job requires it.

What we can offer

We have opportunities for learning and development, unique work locations, onsite medical center, free parking, an excellent remuneration package and a supportive team environment.

Being part of the BlueScope brand makes us a strong and successful global company offering connections throughout the world and providing access to resources and tools from the wider business. We believe our people are our strength and embrace diversity and inclusion as we aim to have the right people in the right roles to move us into the future.
