Senior Payroll Officer/ Payroll Specialist


New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors.  You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

What you will be doing

Due to a well-deserved career change, a fantastic opportunity to join the New Zealand Steel Payroll Team based at Glenbrook is now available. While reporting to our Payroll Leader, you will be joining a fun, hardworking and supportive payroll team of 4. 

In this position you will play a key role in the delivery of five major payrolls for New Zealand Steel & Pacific Steel NZ you will also be assisting with invoices and employee recognition. 

You will be starting at NZ Steel as we transition from Paper Timesheets to Humanforce Time & Attendance system.

What you will bring to the role

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in end-to-end payroll processing in New Zealand
  • Knowledge of PAYE, KiwiSaver, Holidays Act, and general payroll best practice
  • Experience using large payroll system (JadeStar or other) and strong excel skills
  • High attention to detail with excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality 
  • A sense of fun and a can-do positive attitude will be welcomed.
