Shift Electrician

Pacific Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, is New Zealand’s only manufacturer of wire rod, reinforcing bar and coil products. You may know us for our flagship SEISMIC® brand or WIREMARK® branded fencing wire, trusted by New Zealand’s fencing industry for over 50 years.

About the role

Applications are sought for the position of shift electrician in our busy Rolling Mill working a variety of day, night and weekend shifts. This position reports to the Rolling Mill Maintenance Superintendent and is based in Otahuhu.

Key accountabilities include:

• Condition monitoring, preventative maintenance, maintenance repairs and breakdowns,
• Technical support for electrical, mechanical and operational investigation/fault finding.
• Provision of team Leader duties when required.

About the person

• Trades qualified with a current practicing licence in New Zealand
• The capacity to plan and organise.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Good decision-making and problem-solving skills. And the ability to work in a team environment.
• An uncompromising attitude to safety.
• Working knowledge of HV
• Knowledge and understanding of PDL/ABB/Siemens drives and PLCs desirable.
• Knowledge of Camera’s, PC’s and Networks is desirable
